Annie Awards adalah ajang penghargaan yang dikhususkan kepada dunia animasi baik itu feature film, short film, ataupun penggunaan animasi dalam sebuah film live action. Tahun ini merupakan penyelenggaraan ke-40 ajang penghargaan yang pemenangnya seringkali menjadi pemenang Oscar di kategori Best Animated Feature. Beberapa film yang sudah masuk ke dalam short-list Oscar dinominasikan untuk kategori Best Animated Feature. Sementara itu film-film live action seperti Life of Pi, The Avengers, dan The Amazing Spider-Man pun mendapatkan beberapa nominasi.
